Bio

Through a process of deep engagement Felicity has forged her practice as a maker of objects that prompt us to think about our lives, take a position, question and reflect. Her direct experience of her milieu is often a catalyst for work that encapsulates her approach to living. Whether personal, political or social her ideas are developed and shaped through the process of making.

Her inspiration comes from Western Australian sea forms, corals, patterns on rocks and molluscs. “The patterns that the ocean makes as it swirls around small rocks, broken shells that are never ending.”

Further inspiration came from finishing her five-year treatment for breast cancer. It was not part of her original plan, but whilst experimenting with molten wax, modelling, a range of tiny breasts appeared. The 3Ls ring series (Live Love Life) documents that process of coming to terms with diagnosis expressing so many feelings.

Felicity’s practice consists of exhibition pieces, commissions and small production ranges. Corporate and government commissions are an important part of her work. Felicity in internationally recognised for her skills and her development of the beautiful Korean technique of Keum Boo, where pure gold sheet is fused to a sterling silver base.

Felicity Peters lives and works in Perth, Western Australia
