Poetry Alive will be featuring 2 poets Russ Erwin and Rhyll McMaster, the MC will of course be Harry Laing.

Russ Erwin is a farmer/ poet and a true ecstatic.He has several respected collections to his name and won the 2015 Meanjin Dorothy Porter Prize.

Then in the morning/ like a nest among thorns/ three feet away/ a pool of still water/ self-contained, like wisdom/ calmly held our faces/ as we drank.

Long a force in Australian poetry, Rhyll McMaster has won many awards for her previous poetry collections. Her most recent book, Late Night Shopping, was highly commended in the 2013 Prime Minister’s Awards. She’s also the author of the prize-winning novel Feather Man.

After that rasping second when the woman died she was bleached pale on the surface like a sponge. Slightly yellow, slightly grey. When the nurse-aide touched her skin, it was leached fibrous.

Harry Laing will MC the event, perform some of his satirical poems, try to raise a few laughs and throw in a few political barbs.
