Eduardo Wolfe-Alegria: Artist Statement & Bio
Eduardo Wolfe-Alegria reinterprets the natural world, drawing from tropes of fantasy, mythology and fairytales to create imagery that is at once metamorphic, anthropomorphic, psychedelic and surreal. Laced with a distinctly queer sense of camp and humour his fantastical paintings, sculptures and installations seek to remind us of our connection to the natural world, its seen and unseen forces and to suggest an enchanted worldview as one which might enrich our lived experiences. He is currently based between Sydney and the Southern Tablelands, and completed an MFA at Sydney College of the Arts in 2014. He has exhibited in numerous galleries and been a finalist in a number of prizes around Australia. He also teaches in the School of Design, University of Technology, Sydney.
