Stanley Street Gallery is a multi-disciplinary exhibition space situated in the heart of Darlinghurst Sydney. Presenting critical and experimental work, the Gallery seeks to give space to innovative and diverse practices that contribute to local and international arts communities. Founded by Liza Feeney and Merilyn Bailey in 2012, Stanley Street Gallery has developed a reputation for championing early career artists and curators in the commercial sector, hosting a program of 12 exhibitions, including painting, ceramic, sculpture, drawing, photography and contemporary wearables.
Directors Feeney and Bailey met studying the Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts and since have both individually pursued art practices within the field of jewellery. This personal history lends to a distinctive appreciation and affinity with object-orientated practices, unique to the commercial gallery scene in Sydney. As a space for experimental work, Stanley Street Gallery is interested in exploring and encouraging craft and art intersections and hybrid potentials that challenge borders and definitions of medium and discipline.
Stanley Street Gallery ensures to deliver excellent advice and professional guidance to clients in all matters involving investing, collecting, conserving and managing contemporary fine art.
The Gallery is also the primary coordinator of Sydney East Art Walk and regularly hosts non-for-profit events like plays, poetry readings and book launches.
