Jackson Farley: Statement
Jackson Farley is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Sydney, Australia. With a particular focus on outmoded notions of masculinity in the contemporary he explores phallocentric histories, ‘genius art’ and the divine.
Using irony, afforded by combining seemingly ‘pure’ and ‘impure’ imagery and text, Jackson channels the subliminal and parodies the way in which we see ourselves and our world. With the crudeness of slapstick, schoolboy humour and sexual innuendo, his work speaks to the irony of religion, god and notions thereof, whilst also conversely, being just as sentimental, heart-felt and self-reflective. He intertwines his narrative into each work to speak to a kind of universal history - an act of catharsis to mourn for naivety, love lost and family departed.
